Allene Allen

June 21, 1926 — October 13, 2014

Allene Allen, 88, of Coleman, died Monday, October 13, 2014 at her residence. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Todd King officiating. Burial will be in the Santa Anna Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Allen was born June 21, 1926 in Santa Anna to Arthur Talley and Alice Anna McMeans Talley. She grew up and attended school in Santa Anna. She married Charles Hiram Allen on November 26, 1943 in Santa Anna and soon after moved to Elsmere, New York. There, she worked as a seamstress, worked in the cafeteria at the Elsmere schools and worked for a catering company. Upon moving back to Coleman, she worked for Stempel Manufacturing and for Nurses Unlimited.

She taught Sunday School, was a member of the Elsmere Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and attended the High Mesa Cowboy Church in Brownwood. She worked at being a wife, a mother and was a loving grandmother.

Survivors include one son, Art Allen and wife, Christine, of Westerlo, New York; one daughter, Charlene Allen of Coleman; one brother, Luther James Talley of Dallas; four grandchildren, Patrick Allen and wife, Becky, of Virginia, Angel Campbell and husband, Michael of Lawton, Oklahoma, Monica Bouck-Freels of Lucas, B.J. Bullock and wife, Lottie, of Coleman; 11 great grandchildren, Cody, Kaitlyn and Kevin Allen of Virginia, Kyle, Trenton and Chase Carson of Oklahoma, Isabella, Triton, Gwen and Blythe Freels of Lucas, Myia Bullock of Coleman and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Allen on January 6, 2002; one grandson, Richard Charles Allen; one sister, Mary Frances Oaks and one brother, Arthur Dean "Buddy" Talley.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Breast Cancer Research Foundation or the High Mesa Cowboy Church.
