Anna Mae Jenkins

Anna Mae Jenkins, 80, of Coleman, died Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Central Baptist Church, 201 West Mesquite Street, Coleman, with Rev. David Jenkins and Rev. Doug Whittington officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Anna Mae Slaughter on June 30, 1937 in Coleman to Ross Hill and Sarah Lou Annie Broyles Slaughter. She grew up and attended school in Talpa, Hamlin and Coleman, graduating from Coleman High School in 1955. On March 4, 1956, she married Wayne B. Jenkins in Coleman. Anna Mae taught piano, was a member of the Texas Extension Education Association and the quilting club at Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Central Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and played the piano over 65 years.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Jenkins of Coleman; two sons, Mark Wayne Jenkins and wife, Terry, of Sherman, David Lynn Jenkins and wife, C.J. of Slaton; two daughters, Lisa Marie Tillman of Fort Stockton, Elizabeth Rene’ Strebeck and husband, Mark, of Highlands; one sister-in-law, Edith Slaughter of Brady; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Anna Mae was preceded in death by five brothers, Ules Branscum, Donald Ray Branscum, James Emmett Branscum, Buddy Slaughter and J.H. Slaughter; two sisters, Grace Slaughter and Frances Slaughter.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.
