Audrey Elizabeth Whitfield, 88, of Odessa and former Coleman County resident, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Odessa Medical Center in Odessa. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Brown Ranch Cemetery in Fisk, Coleman County, Texas. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.
She was born Audrey Elizabeth Hamilton on June 13, 1927 in Coleman County to Elwood Freeman Hamilton and Ruby McQueen Hamilton. She grew in Coleman County and attended school at Brown Ranch. On July 14, 1945, she married Bennie Clyde (Pat) Whitfield in Coleman. Audrey and Pat moved to Odessa, where he worked in the oil fields. Audrey worked in the cafeteria at various schools in Odessa. They later moved to Ft. Davis, where Audrey worked for the Prude Ranch. Audrey loved attending the local country musicals with Pat. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Brad Whitfield and wife, Kelly, of Kopperl; son-in-law, Dale Kleam of Denver City; four brothers and sisters, Laverne Horn of Abilene, Joy Chennault of Louisiana, Mack Hamilton of Marble Falls, Ronnie Hamilton of Fisk; four grandchildren, Tosha Giles of Midland, Tonya Whitehead of Odessa, Gidgett Taylor of Pecos, Jole Herman of Water Valley; 11 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Alton F. Hamilton; one daughter, Judy Kleam and one grandson, Jasbo Whitfield.
