Aurora Suniga Diaz

Aurora Diaz, 87, of Coleman died Friday, February 2, 2018 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2018 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with her son, Emilio Diaz officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Aurora Suniga on January 29, 1931 in Mission, Texas to Jose Suniga and Louisa Ramirez Suniga. She grew up in Mission and attended school there. In September of 1951, she married Buster Diaz in Georgetown. They lived in several places before making their home in Coleman. Mrs. Diaz loved to paint, loved gardening and growing roses and loved to cook. She worked hard raising her family and adored her grandchildren. She also volunteered her time with Matthew 25 Ministries and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include twelve children, Diana Umana of Brownwood, Richard Diaz of Bangs, Elizabeth Vences Diaz of Houston, Felix Diaz of Coleman, Emilio Diaz of Coleman, Dorsey Bustamante of Brady, Silvia Diaz of Brady, Dora Diaz of Dallas, Mary Lou Diaz of Brownwood, Judy Espitia of San Angelo, Jimmy Diaz of Coleman and Joey Diaz of Houston. Also surviving are two sisters, Stella Gonzalez, Trina Lozano; 39 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Diaz on July 24, 2017; one daughter, Leticia Diaz; two brothers, Juan Suniga, Lupe Suniga: one granddaughter, Becky Diaz and one grandson, Anthony Guel.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Stevens Funeral Home.
