Barbara Louise Cook

June 6, 1941 — June 4, 2015

Barbara L. Cook, 73, of Coleman, died Thursday, June 4, 2015 at her residence. Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Rev. James Posey officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Barbara Louise Matney on June 6, 1941 in Terlton, Oklahoma to Cecil Albert Matney and Mary Rebecca Morris Matney. Barbara grew up in Oklahoma, Arizona and California. She worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in hospitals and nursing homes in New Mexico and Texas. She moved to Coleman in 2011 from Abilene, where she lived for three years and had lived in Brownfield. She was a member Bethel Baptist Church in Brownfield.

Barbara adored her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her one great-great grandchild. She loved spending time with them.

Survivors include seven children, Albert Wright of Porum, Oklahoma, Mary Wright of Lake Coleman, Lee Wright of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Lola Wright of San Antonio, Randy Wright of Lake Coleman, Patty Wright-Kirk of Clyde, Frank Jones of San Diego, California; 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

Visitation with the family will be from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Stevens Funeral Home.
