Barbara Ann McDonald, 78, of Coleman died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Senior Care of Brownwood. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman. Burial will follow in the Santa Anna Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
She was born Barbara Ann Arnold on September 10, 1935 in Valera, to Foster and Ernestine LeSeuer Arnold. Ann attended schools in both Coleman and San Angelo and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) through Overall-Morris Hospital, now Coleman County Medical Center. She practiced as a nurse at multiple physician's offices and at Seeley Hospital in Santa Anna. She was the Director of Nurses at Leisure Lodge Nursing Home, now Coleman Healthcare Center. She had a passion for providing care for the elderly.
Ann married Jacky McDonald on August 8, 1953. This year the couple would been married for 60 years. They resided in Houston and Coleman, where they raised their three children. Ann had a giving and loving heart that was evident by not only the care she provided to her family, but also all the other friends that loved going over to Jacky and Ann's. Ann did charity work for several years through Health and Human Services involving the care for children. She was an avid gardener and wonderful cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacky Duane McDonald on May 31, 2005, her parents Foster and Ernestine Arnold, son-in-law Dr. John Steven Arthur and niece Lori Kim Sprinkles.
She is survived by one son, Jerry McDonald and his wife Denise of Lake Ivie, two daughters, Vicki McDonald Arthur of Abilene, Sherry McDonald Cozart of Breckenridge; two sisters, Diane Elkin and Glenda Kay Sprinkles and husband Robert, all of Brownwood; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy McDonald of Coleman, Joyce McDonald of Abilene; nine grandchildren, Logan McDonald and wife Natalie of Paint Rock, Joshua Arthur of Abilene, Lindsey Diaz and husband Daniel of Brownwood, Garrett Cozart and wife Allie of Cisco, Reagan Cozart of Colorado Springs, Colorado, LaShan Arthur of Fort Worth, Allison Cowling and husband Brad, Angela Zuyus and husband Elton, and Robin Mason and husband Eric, all of Abilene; 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Stevens Funeral Home.
