Bertha Andrews, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, in Coleman, Texas, at the age of 101. Born on May 5, 1923, in Burkett, Texas, she was the daughter of Reinheld Henry Hanke and Clara Carol Blaschke Hanke. Bertha graduated from high school in Burkett and dedicated her life to her family and community.

Throughout her life, Bertha was known for her warm spirit and ability to bring people together. A talented seamstress, she often provided for those around her with her lovingly crafted garments. In addition to her sewing skills, she was renowned for her delicious cakes, which she baked for friends and family, sweetening many gatherings with her culinary talents.

Bertha married the love of her life, Reynard Leslie Andrews, on May 21, 1941, and they shared a wonderful life together until his passing on July 3, 1998. The couple enjoyed many cherished moments dancing and gardening side by side. Bertha's passion for flowers extended beyond her garden; she found joy in the beauty of nature and often incorporated it into her home.

As a proud and faithful member of Concho Baptist Church, Bertha made a lasting impact on her community, embodying the spirit of love and generosity. She was an entertainer at heart, relishing the opportunity to host family gatherings and create memories that would last forever.

Bertha's legacy continues through her loving family. She is survived by her grandchildren, Leslie Gideon of May, Amy Andrews of Athens, Alabama, and Michelle Bailey Maxwell of Snyder. Her great-grandchildren include Zach Bailey of Odessa, Kyleigh Bailey-Gorrell of Odessa, Colee Gideon of Midland, Bridgette Crame of Athens, Alabama, Mitzi Neeb of Hurst, and Jacob Palmer of Mansfield. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by several great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reynard; her daughter, Juanita Gideon; her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Kathy Andrews; her sister, Gladys Anna Young; and her grandson, Greg Palmer. Bertha will be greatly missed, not just for her cherished roles within the family but for her kindness which touched the lives of many.

The family will host a visitation at Stevens Funeral Home, located at 400 West Pecan Street in Coleman, on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM with Rev. Aaron Mitchell officiating. There will be a private burial at the Coleman City Cemetery. As we gather to celebrate the life of Bertha Andrews, we honor her memory and the love she has instilled in all of us.
