Bettie Gean (Rae) Thate

Bettie Rae Thate, age 74, of San Angelo, died Monday, January 31, 2022, at Arbor Terrace Nursing Home following a long illness.  Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2022 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Chas Shira officiating.  Private interment will follow in Coleman City Cemetery.  Services have been entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

She was born Bettie Gean Rae on December 16, 1947 in Coleman, Texas, the only child of Viron DeWitt Rae and Alice Josephine Blair Rae.  She grew up in Coleman and attended school here.  On April 1, 1967 she married Roy Lee Thate at her parent’s home in Coleman.  Following their marriage, they lived in Coleman until moving to San Angelo in 1982.  Bettie was a homemaker and a member of Bible Baptist Church in Coleman.  Roy Lee preceded her in death on March 24, 2020.

She is survived by nieces Ruth Thate,  Sindy Frazier and Jamie Wells and good friends, Randy and Brenda Young of San Angelo.
