Gouldbusk

Betty Scarborough, born on March 15, 1938, in Leaday, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home, surrounded by her beloved family. A devoted homemaker, Betty was not only the caretaker of her home and farm but also a nurturing presence in the lives of all who knew her. She dedicated herself to her family, finding joy in cooking and caring for her children, along with supporting her husband Glen on their farm. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories, one that Betty held dear to her heart.

Growing up in Leaday, Betty graduated from Mozelle High School, where the values of hard work and community service were instilled in her. Throughout her life, she exemplified these characteristics by generously volunteering for the Panther Creek Booster Club, where her loving and giving spirit shone through. Her caring nature earned her the respect and admiration of many in her community. Together, Betty and Glen served as caretakers and sextons to the Shields Cemetery. Betty also took care of the Hill Cemetery where many of her family members are laid to rest.

A proud member of the First Baptist Church in Santa Anna, she also attended Gouldbusk Baptist Church. Betty served on the building committee at First Baptist Church. Betty was a lady of faith who embraced her beliefs through active participation. She found joy in simple pleasures, most notably in her culinary skills, which were a testament to her love for family and friends.

Betty is survived by her two children, Randy Scarborough of Bangs and Amy Parker and her husband Hank of May. She brought immense joy to her family, particularly to her grandchildren, Lane Parker and his fiancé Kelan Bode, and Gage Parker. Betty also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Norene Jamison and Rilda Scarborough along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her loving husband Glen Scarborough, her daughter Sherry Turney, and her parents Manton Jamison and Julia Skelton Jamison. Betty is also preceded in death by her dear siblings, Buck Jamison, Dick Jamison, Martha Hafner, Billie Ruth McCorkle, Jinks Jamison, Oscar Jamison, and Johnny Zane Jamison.

Betty Scarborough will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her generous spirit, and the warm warmth she provided to all who crossed her path. Her legacy of love and care will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

The family will host a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel.
