Bettye was born March 21, 1930 in the family home, to Gordon and Flora Sloan Monsey.  Bettye was raised in Coleman County where she attended Starkweather and Gouldbusk Elementary, and Mozelle Schools.  On November 16, 1946 Bettye married Lynn William “Buck” Jamison in Leaday, Texas.  Buck and Bettye settled on a farm in Coleman County, where they farmed, and raised cattle and sheep.  Bettye was a longtime member of Gouldbusk United Methodist Church.  Bettye worked side by side with her husband on the farm, plowing the fields, and working the cattle and sheep.  She was a terrific seamstress and cook.

Survivors include one daughter, Michele, and husband, Truitt Mitchell of Brownwood; one sister, Diane, and husband Jerry Allen of Gouldbusk; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Jamison of Voss, and Betty and husband Glenn Scarborough of Shields; one brother-in-law, Johnny and wife Norrene Jamison of Voss; three grandchildren, Mysti and husband Mitchell Allen of Southlake, Max Mitchell of Euless, and Tobyn and husband Matt Ribitzki of Aledo; five great-grandchildren, Nathan Allen, Rylie Allen, Regan Allen, Calvin Ribitzki, and James Ribitzki; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bettye was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mozelle Williams and Bobbye Thweatt; and husbands, Lynn William Jamison and Robert Candler.

Bettye was beautiful on the inside and outside.  She cared for the well-being of others before herself.  She was a loving mother and grandmother.  Her grandkids, great-grandkids, and their friends knew her as Begee.  She will be greatly missed.

Memorials are suggested in memory of Bettye to the Hill Cemetery, 153 County Road 319, Gouldbusk, Texas 76845.
