Bill Whitfield, age 83, of Coleman, passed from this life on January 30, 2021 with his daughters by his side.

The family will host a visitation on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel.  A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Dean officiating.  Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.  Face coverings are mandatory to attend the visitation and funeral service.

He was born Billy Charles Whitfield on September 19, 1937 in Santa Anna to Felix Alvin Whitfield and Essie Lucille Beissel.  He grew up in Coleman until the age of 16 when his family moved to California.  Bill was proud to serve in the United States Army.  He moved back to Coleman in 1980 where he was a machine operator and worked for the light plant in Coleman until he retired.  In his younger years, Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He had a kind spirit and heart which made him a very loved person.  Bill would take treats to all the nursing facilities and loved to converse with anyone.  Most of all, Bill loved his family.  He loved his two daughters, his step-son, and his grandchildren.  Bill loved and cherished all the times he spent with them.  He was a member of Community Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Essie Whitfield; his sister, Hazel Farmer; and his brothers, Jerry “Bud” Whitfield and Bonny Whitfield.

He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Carnes of Overton and Tammy Brockie and husband John of Lakewood, California; his step-son, Kenny Hoefer and wife Mary of Torrance, California; the love of his life, Nita Wood of Coleman; six grandchildren, Brandon Whitfield and wife Sophia, Brittani McClellan and husband Nathan, Tanner Carnes, Drew Durnil, Aidan Brockie, and Nicole Hoefer; four great-grandchildren, Gunnar Whitfield, Ella Whitfield, Campbell Whitfield, and Laramie Whitfield; his sister, Alma Balli of Huntington Beach, California; and many nieces, nephews, and host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Whitfield, Tanner Carnes, Drew Durnil, Gunnar Whitfield, John Brockie, Aiden Brockie, Nathan McClellan.
