She was born Billie Irene McMillan on August 7, 1943 in Coleman to Billy Clifford McMillan Sr. and Marthena Cleo McElrath McMillan. Billie grew up in Coleman County and graduated from Coleman High School in 1961. She married Leon Wayne Griffin in 1962 in Coleman. Billie worked in the cafeteria for the Panther Creek Consolidated Independent School District and retired after 21 years of service. She then worked as a mail carrier for 10 years serving the southern parts of Coleman County. Billie had a kind heart and contagious smile. She was always willing to help someone in need or sit and have a cup of coffee with you. Billie had a green thumb when it came to growing flowers. Her yard was a rainbow of the most beautiful array of flowers. Billie’s cooking was another thing that her family loved. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her favorite hobbies were playing board games with her grandchildren and Yahtzee with her brothers and sisters. Her laugh, smile, and kind heart will be missed by all that knew her. Billie was a member of the Gouldbusk Baptist Church.
Billie is joined in heaven by her parents, Billy and Marthena McMillan; her husband, Leon Griffin; her brothers, Bill McMillan, Jr., and Foster McMillan; and by her sister who died 21 years ago on November 9, Sandy Reeves.
