Billy Hobbs, age 69, of Coleman, died Friday, December 23, 2022, at his residence.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2022, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 7457 W. Lake Road, in Abilene. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
He was born Billy Manning Hobbs on September 15, 1953, in Graham, Texas to Johnny Hobbs and Betty Miller Hobbs. He grew up in Graham and Abilene and graduated from Graham High School. After graduation, Billy enlisted with the United States Marine Corps. After receiving an honorable discharge, Billy attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Billy was an expert at buying and flipping houses. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and woodworking. He was a loving son, brother, and friend; he will be missed.
Preceding Billy in death are his parents, Johnny and Betty Hobbs; one brother, Jerry Hobbs; and one sister, Lavon Gartman.
He is survived by four stepchildren, Crystal Smith of Mooreland, Oklahoma, Leila Smith of Fort Worth, and Roxanne Smith of Glenpool, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Azai Thomas of Mooreland, Oklahoma, Maddox Rainy Henson of Fort Worth, Devin Jones and Ian Jones of Glenpool, Oklahoma; two brothers, Douglas Gartman of Cross Plains, and Ricky Hobbs of Brownwood; and four sisters, Darla Hobbs of Lake Brownwood, Patricia Brooker of Lake Brownwood, Labacca Gartman of Abilene, and Jeanie Gartman of Abilene.
