Bob Edington

March 11, 1958 — April 22, 2025

Coleman

Bob Edington, a cherished resident of Coleman, Texas, was born on March 11, 1958, and passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, at the Coleman County Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was a man of deep-rooted values, known for his bright and vibrant personality, honesty, and compassion for others.

Bob was raised in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School in 1976. The community held a special place in his heart, as it was not only his birthplace but also where Bob dedicated his career to the Coleman Livestock Auction, a family business established by his parents, Duwayne and Bobbie Edington, in 1961. Bob stepped into the role of manager in 1993 and became the proud owner in 2015 following the passing of his mother. For Bob, this was not just a job; it was a lifelong passion. He devoted his heart and soul to the auction, cherishing every moment spent with employees, customers, and of course, the cattle he loved so dearly.

Throughout his life, Bob was well-regarded for his generous spirit. He was always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need, selflessly donating his time, funds, and cattle when it served the greater good. His commitment to uplifting others was a hallmark of his character, earning him the respect and admiration of many in the community.

Bob took immense pride in his family life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sylvia Edington, and their two children, Macy Knight and husband Jake, and Glen Edington and wife Veronica, all of Coleman. The love he had for his three grandchildren, Wayne Knight, Eve Knight, and Olivia Edington, was boundless, and he reveled in the joy and excitement they brought to his life. A proud supporter of his children and grandchildren, Bob treasured the moments spent cheering them on in their various activities.

His accomplishments did not go unnoticed; in 2012, he received the Business of the Year award from the Coleman County Chamber of Commerce, a recognition of his dedication and significant contributions to the community. Additionally, Bob was a proud member of the First Baptist Church, where he was baptized on March 2, 2025. Bob was also a gracious supporter and advocate for the West Texas Rehabilitation Center and hosted many fundraisers for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Bob enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, particularly his time spent outdoors. There was nothing he relished more than watching the sunset from his truck, marveling at the beauty of God’s canvas in the sky and observing his cattle settle for the evening.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Duwayne and Bobbie Edington, and his brother, Jimmy Dan Edington.
