Bob Freeman

October 9, 1934 — August 5, 2014

Bobby Lee Freeman, 79, of Coleman, died Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Hendrick Medical Center. Graveside service with Military Honors will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. Don Harmes officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Bob was born October 9, 1934 in Pioneer, Eastland County, Texas to Cecil Freeman and Fannie Flippin Freeman. He grew up in Pioneer, attending school in Pioneer and Cross Plains. Bob served in the United States Army for five years, working on computer systems. He married Mary Helen McClellan in 1961 in Coleman. Bob retired from G.E., after 30 years of service, working closely with NASA. He developed refrigeration units and air conditioner units for several different spacecraft and continued working and developing computer systems for NASA.

After retiring, Bob and Mary moved to Coleman in 1998 from League City. Mary preceded him in death in 2004. In June of 2006, Bob married Pat Buford Bryan in Coleman. She preceded him in death on July 29, 2014. Bob was a member of Community Baptist Church.

Survivors include one sister, Maxine Poindexter of Lawn; several nieces and nephews, including Jerry Huddleston of Cross Plains; Joy Scruggs of Rising Star; several great nieces and great nephews, including Johnny Huddleston and wife, Amanda, of Coleman; three step children, Mary Ann Bowers and husband, Mike, of Coleman, Sharon Walters and husband, Phillip, of Coleman, Sealy Bryan, Jr. and wife, Tamera, of Odessa; one brother-in-law, Bill Buford and wife, LaFaunda, of Odessa; seven step-grandchildren and three step great-grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Freeman and his twin, Bill Freeman; three sisters, Viola Hudson, Ozella Freeman and Merlene Gail Freeman.

Family visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.
