Buddy Bird

Buddy Bird, 64, of Coleman died Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Methodist Hospital in Richardson. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 at First Baptist Church, 200 East College Avenue, Coleman, with Rev. Rex Boggs officiating assisted by Rev. John Stanislaw. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

He was born Floyd Carroll Bird, Jr. on February 3, 1953 in Breckenridge to Floyd Carroll Bird, Sr. and Ima Fay Bedford Bird. He grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School. Buddy was co-founder of Bird Electric and also taught at the A & M Extension Service. He was also the original drummer for the group, Southern Cross. Buddy loved playing football and fishing. He loved being around his grandchildren and was very proud that his sons followed him into the family business.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Bird of Coleman; his children, Brian Bird and wife, Mandy, of Eastland, Shane Bird and wife, Tessa, of Eastland, Tiffni Darden and husband, Ray, of Eastland, Josh Bird of Coleman; one brother, Jerry Barry and wife, Sherry, of Burkburnett; one sister, Marsha Barry and husband, Russ Jones, of Destin, Florida; step-daughter, Kristi Shine and husband, Eric; step-brothers, Pete Jones, Robbie Jones; 13 grandchildren, Peyton Bird, Katelyn Bird, Stephen Bird, Chase Bird, Taylor Bird, Brooklyn Bird, Wyatt Darden, Ashley Darden, Brayden Bird, Blakelyn Bird, Eric Shine, Jr., Kazleigh Shine, Erris Faye Shine; brother-in-law, Tim Ehrler of Coleman and several nieces and nephews.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Carrol Bird, Sr. and Fay Bird Jones; two sisters, Carolyn Maddox and Donna Ehrler.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.
