Carmilla Mae Baugh of Santa Anna, 98, passed away Friday, November 21, 2014.

Carmilla was born to Naomi Mae Bruton and Joseph Benjamin Flores on September 22, 1916 in Santa Anna, Texas. The descendent of Brown County pioneers, Carmilla was a lifetime resident of Coleman County.

Carmilla graduated as "high point girl" from Santa Anna High School in 1934. She married D.S. (Dick) Baugh on December 22, 1937 in Santa Anna, moving to the Cleveland Community and then to the Leedy Community. They celebrated 56 years of marriage before his death. She was a homemaker and partner in their stock farm operation. She served as her daughters' room mother, PTA officer and Band Booster officer. She had been a member of the Santa Anna Garden Club, Self-Culture Club, and United Methodist Women.

She served many years as the pianist and treasurer of the Cleveland Methodist Church. Upon moving her membership to the Santa Anna First United Methodist Church, she sang in the choir and served on many committees. She was an officer in the UMW and served as chief cook when their organization provided meals for the Santa Anna Lions Club. She was an avid quilter and helped piece and quilt over 100 quilts for family and her church fundraisers. She continued to play the piano into her 90's for her church's gospel-sing Sundays.

She is survived by her daughters Dixie Bible and son-in-law James, of Coleman, Nancy Lowry and son-in-law Lonnie, of Bangs. Her grandchildren include Kathie Reid Findley, Jim Reid, Kenneth Reid, and Mike Reid, all of Teague, Texas; Deborah Becker of Frisco, Kayla Quittenton of Springfield, VA, and Will Lowry of San Antonio. Great-grandchildren are Cooper Findley, Rachel Reid Richardson, Justin Reid, Marc Reid, Cory Reid, Mikenna Reid, Kayla Reid, Madison Reid, Kyle Bible, and Cole Bible. She is also survived by great-great grandchildren Kelli Jo and Kali Richardson and Leah Beth Reid as well as a brother, Col. Joe B. Flores, RET., and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, in 1994, daughter Naomi Reid, a son-in-law Jim Reid, grandson Jamie Joe Bible, great-grandson Jason Turner, brother Carl Flores, and sister Nancy Ann Flores Nixon Avants Lerch.

A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2014 in the Santa Anna First United Methodist Church, 401 South 1st Street, Santa Anna, with burial following in the Cleveland Cemetery with the Reverend Michael Redmond officiating and the Wayne Lewis assisting. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Family visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one of Carmilla's favorite charities: the Cleveland Cemetery Association, the Santa Anna First United Methodist Church Stained Glass Window Restoration Project or to a charity of the donor's choice.
