Carolyn Buck, age 82, long term resident of Coleman, died Wednesday, June 6, at her residence in Corpus Christi, Texas. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Lewis, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Coleman, officiating. There will be a time of visitation immediately following the service. Interment will be in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
She was born Carolyn Isabel Clark on October 16, 1935, a daughter of Thomas Alfred Clark and Mattie Marie Threlkeld Clark. She grew up in Coleman where she attended school. On December 23, 1951, she married Merrell Leon Buck, in New Mexico. He preceded her in death on September 5, 1982. She was a graduate of Howard Payne University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was an elementary school teacher for the Mozelle ISD and Coleman ISD, retiring after more than 30 years. About 10 years ago, Carolyn moved to Corpus Christi to be near her daughter and family and happily resided at Brookdale Assisted Living, where she participated in many activities. She was a lady who had a kind and sweet spirit. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Coleman.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Bob Smith of Cost, Texas; one grandson, Clark Thomas Smith of Port Aransas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; two sons, Tommy Leon Buck and Ricky Mack Buck; a grandson, Ross Buck Smith; her parents, Tommy and Marie Clark and her sister, Marianne Kirk.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 852, Coleman, Texas, 76834, or the charity of your choice.
