Cathy (Taylor) Thompson

Cathy Thompson, age 64, of Coleman, died Friday, September 7, 2018, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.  Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Catherine Ann Taylor on April 3, 1954, in Lawton, Oklahoma, the daughter of Albert Lee Taylor and Dorothy Pearl Jerden Taylor.  As a child, she attended school at Divide, Nolan County, Texas, before moving to Coleman in 1970, where she graduated from Coleman High School in 1973.  In 1974 she married Herman Miller in Coleman and they were married for over 20 years.  She lived for a few years in New Mexico before returning to Coleman.  Cathy served in the Naval Reserve for four years.  She graduated from nursing school in Ballinger as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and worked for over 35 years at Holiday Hill Nursing Home in Coleman.  She was a member of North Coleman Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.

Although Cathy had no children of her own, she helped raise her nieces and nephews and they have many fond memories of her.  She also was the caregiver for both of her parents as well as other family members.  She enjoyed making crafts with her mother.

She is survived by her twin brother, Kenneth Taylor, of Abilene; sister-in-law, Connie Taylor of San Angelo; nieces and nephews, Penny Dudash of Lilburn, Georgia, Steve Taylor of Coleman, Stefanie Dye of San Angelo, Patty Lopez of Santa Anna, Crystal Hatcher of Whitsett, NC, Andrea Rodgers of San Angelo; 27 great nieces and nephews; three great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Dorothy Taylor; two brothers, Ronnie Taylor and Mike Taylor.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 10, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.
