Cecil "Chicho" Alcala, 73, of Coleman, died Friday, May 1, 2015 in Fort Worth. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 303 East College Avenue, Coleman, with Rev. Romanus Akamike officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Cecil Alcala was born May 9, 1941 in Coleman to Mateo Alcala and Asuncion Bierra Alcala. He grew up in Coleman and attended Coleman High School. In October, 1960, he married Mary Carmen Sanchez in Coleman and they celebrated 54 years of marriage. He owned and operated an upholstery shop on Concho Street for over 41 years. Cecil loved baseball, music and dancing and restoring classic cars. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he was also an usher.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Carmen Alcala of Fort Worth; children, Lorraine (Lora) Ramirez of Fort Worth, Angelo Alcala of Dallas, Wilbert Grinsven of Dallas; sister, JoAnn Mendoza of Mineral Wells; grandchildren, Michael Paul Ramirez and fiancAC.e, Tina Valdez, of Fort Worth, Marissa Kennedy and husband, Roland, of Fort Worth, Monica Ramirez of Fort Worth and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.
There will be a Rosary Service 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
