Charlene (Brown) Ford

Charlene Ford, 89, of Santa Anna, died Monday, September 2, 2019 at Brownwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  There will be a visitation on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.  Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Charles Fales officiating.  Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Anna Charlene Brown on February 14, 1930 in Brown County to James Isaac Brown and Mattie Lee Purcell Brown.  She grew up in Grosvenor and attended school in Grosvenor and in Bangs.  She later graduated from Draughns Business College in Abilene and went to nursing school in Denton and obtained her Licensed Vocational Nurse certificate.  She married Arvin Wayne Lewis, and they had one child, Billie Ann.  She later married Al Caviness.  On May 13, 2002, Charlene married Rev. James Ford in Fort Worth.  He preceded her in death on June 22, 2009.

Charlene worked for 10 years at Westgate Hospital in Denton.  She worked in the E/R, I.C.U. and Critical Care departments.  She enjoyed sewing and working in her yard.  She loved tending to her rose bushes.  She also enjoyed helping the youth at church and was always active with Vacation Bible School.  She was a member of the Feed Store in Santa Anna.

Survivors include one daughter, Billie Ann Crye and husband, Donnie, of Coleman; one brother, Jack Brown and wife, Sophie, of Pacifica, California; two grandchildren, Wesley Crye of Coleman, Cory Crye and wife, Michelle, of Roanoke; three great grandchildren,  Britney Crye of Bellevue, Kaycie Crye of Roanoke and Kylie Crye of Roanoke.  Also surviving are one nephew, Jim Brown and wife, Terrie, of Pacifica, California; one niece, Sherry Guillermo of Hawaii and a great nephew, Daniel Guillermo of Hawaii.

Charlene was preceded in death by husband, Rev. James Ford and a granddaughter, Michelle Crye.

Memorial donations may be made to the Feed Store, 607 Wallis Avenue, Santa Anna, Texas 76878.
