Christine Dempsey

Christine Dempsey, 91, of Coleman, passed from this earthly life and onto her heavenly home on July 7, 2017 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman. Burial will be in the Burkett Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Christine Miriam Wright on June 11, 1926 in Spur, Texas to Katie (Farmer) Wright and Martin Wright. She grew up around Burkett and attended school there. On December 21, 1962, Christine married Ray Dempsey and they enjoyed 29 years of marriage before his death in May of 1992. Christine worked at Brink’s Pharmacy for many years and ended her working career as a teacher’s aide with Coleman Independent School District. After retiring, Christine stayed busy volunteering her time with the Joy Station Tuesday School. She was a woman of much faith in the Lord and loved her Elm Street Church of Christ friends and enjoyed the fellowship of the Ladies Bible Class.

Survivors include one son, Larry Mason of Fort Worth; one daughter, Tracy Barnett and husband, David, of Coleman; four grandchildren, Jackelyn Mason Wiser and husband Joshua, Leassa Mason, Paige Barnett, Laiken Barnett and five great grandchildren, Loucille and Henry Wiser, Colby and Kayla Williams and Ralston Hinds. Also surviving is a special niece, Shirley Lester and husband, Bob, and precious friend, Billie Williams.

Besides her husband, Christine was preceded in death by five siblings, William Wright, Jessie Wright, L.K. Wright, Mary Johnson and Omie Slate.

There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home.
