Claude Russell, age 84, of Coleman, died Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the Oak Ridge Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Brownwood.
A funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2021 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
He was born Claude Garner Russell on April 6, 1936 in Pear Valley, McCulloch County, Texas to Lawson B. Russell and Eula Garner Russell. He attended school in Lohn and joined the United States Navy on August 26, 1955 in Houston. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, he married LaRue Edwards. They moved to Coleman in 1979 where Claude worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for over 20 years. Claude was an avid fisherman and would go fishing every chance he got. He also enjoyed shelling pecans and spending time with his family.
He is joined in heaven by his parents, Lawson and Eula Russell and his wife, LaRue Russell.
Claude is survived by two sons, Chad Russell of Brownwood and Michael Lynn Whitehead and wife Robin of Levelland; two daughters, Bettrell Lee Mink and husband Jeff of Smyer and Donna Kay Whitehead of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Memorials are suggested in memory of Claude to the Coleman Senior Citizen Center, 916 S. Concho Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.
