Daniel Keith Rader, Sr., 79, of Coleman, died Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by family. Graveside service with Military Honors will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, 7457 West Lake Road, Abilene with Rev. Jeanetta Josey, pastor of Coleman Nazarene Church officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman.
Daniel Keith Rader, Sr. was born June 4, 1939 in Muskegon, Michigan to Keith Jesse Rader and Geraldine Kitchen Rader. He grew up in Ravenna, Michigan and Muskegon, Michigan. Following high school, Dan enlisted in the United States Air Force. On June 22, 1970, Dan married Carolyn Lee Travis in Norton Shores, Michigan. He worked as a machinist for several manufacturing companies and managed a Mobile Home Park in Dearborn, Michigan. Dan and Carolyn moved to Texas and settled in Coleman in June of 1996. Dan enjoyed fishing and hunting, family camping trips and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of the Coleman Nazarene Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Rader of Coleman; nine children, Danny Rader, Jr. of Abilene, Jeff Rader and wife, Rebecca, of Abilene, Greg Rader and wife, Pam, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shannon Rader of Coleman, Dallas Rader of Abilene, Destiny Rader and husband, Dwight, of Hermleigh, Terry Painter of Muskegon, Michigan, Troy Painter and wife, Chris, of St. Clair, Michigan, Rhonda Aguirre and husband, Rick, of Brady. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Geraldine Rader.
Memorials in Dan’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
