Debbie Fowler, age 73, of Coleman, died Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene.

The family will host a time of visitation and fellowship from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.  Family and friends are invited to a graveside funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the Brown Ranch Cemetery Pavilion with Billy Slaymaker officiating.  A funeral procession will leave Stevens Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday going to Brown Ranch Cemetery.  All are welcome to follow.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

She was born Deborah Darlene Leatherman on January 7, 1950, in San Angelo to Lee Leatherman and Lola Phillips Leatherman.  Debbie grew up in Brownwood and graduated from Brownwood High School.  She married Terry Lee Fowler on February 18, 1975, at Fort Hood.  With this union two daughters were born, Terri and Stacie.

Debbie worked for the Federal Government at Fort Hood Mental Records for many years.  After her marriage to Terry, they were stationed in Berlin, Germany where she volunteered for the school.  Debbie also worked for the VA Administration in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Denver, Colorado, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Fort Carson, Colorado. She was a very active member of the Disabled American Veterans where she received several awards for her dedication and service.  Debbie also volunteered for the Veterans of Foreign War for over 14 years.  Debbie retired with a total of 28 years working for the Federal Government.

Debbie enjoyed shopping, collecting angels, and spending time with family.

Preceding Debbie in death are her parents, Lee and Lola Leatherman; one daughter, Stacie Fowler; and two sisters, Patsy Dicus and Virgina Gibbard.

She is survived by her husband, Terry Fowler of Coleman; one daughter, Terri Fowler of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one brother, Lee Leatherman, Jr. of Brownwood; and one sister, Wanda Jackson and husband Lonnie of Coleman.

Memorials are suggested in memory of Debbie to the Coleman County Senior Center Meals on Wheels, 916 S. Concho, Coleman, Texas 76834.
