Donald E. Turner, age 68, long-time Coleman resident, died Thursday, December 11, 2014 , at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Donald was born January 31, 1946 in Coleman, a son of Carl Turner and Christine Keeney Turner. He grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School in 1964. He attended Angelo State University for two years. He was drafted into the United States Army and was a helicopter mechanic while serving in Viet Nam. On August 4, 2006 he married Nancy Parks in Coleman. Donald was a rancher and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coleman. Since moving to San Angelo two years ago, he had attended the San Angelo Cowboy Church. Donald loved farming and ranching and always had a smile on his face with a good story to tell.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Turner of San Angelo; his mother, Christine Turner of Coleman; three children, Jolee Karle and husband Kevin of Weatherford, Matt Turner of Coleman and Kristen Miller and husband Steven of Abilene; four grandchildren, Kenneth Karle, Emma Karle, Wyatt Miller and Arena Grace Turner; one brother, Randy Turner and wife Kathy of Coleman; three step-children, Richard Sensenbach of Anniston, Alabama, Norma Fiester of Mildred, Pennsylvania and Glen Sensenbach of Kelso, Washington; nine step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Turner.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.
