Doris (Franklin) Dickerson

Doris Dickerson, age 85, of Coleman, died Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the Coleman County Medical Center.

The family will host a visitation from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 1, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 2, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David McLean, pastor of First Baptist Church in Santa Anna, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

She was born Doris Lee Franklin on May 1, 1935 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to William Wallace Franklin and Mary Coleta Stapleton Franklin.  She married Vollie Eugene Dickerson on November 7, 1977 in Littlefield.  They relocated to Coleman 13 years ago where Doris was a superb cook at the Trade Winds Restaurant.  Doris was a strong woman and kept her faith in God at all times.  She was a proud breast cancer survivor.  Doris enjoyed playing bingo, card games, jigsaw puzzles, and crafting.  She loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them.  She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, and spoiling grandmother.

She is joined in heaven by her parents, William and Mary Franklin; her husband, Vollie Eugene Dickerson; her son, Jimmy Wayne Isbell; two great-granddaughters, Mackenzi Papasan and Lauren Isbell; two great-grandsons, Robert Mack and Charlie Mack; her brothers, Bobby Eugene Franklin, Billy Jack Franklin, Lester Ray Franklin, and Roger Dale Franklin; and her sisters, Virginia Mae Hills and Juanita Lajune Posey.

She is survived by her children, Darrell Lee Isbell and wife Marye of Lubbock, Danny Allen Isbell of Huntsville, and Lavelle Walters and husband Mackie of Coleman; her step-son, Mitchell “Bo” Stinson of Littlefield; her step-daughter, Jerri Daniels and husband Gerald of Littlefield; nine grandchildren, number great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Joann Franklin of Littlefield, Helen Smith of Scappoose, Oregon, and Joyce Surrett of Willis.
