Dorothy R. Farris, age 88, of Coleman, passed away Monday, July 13, 2015 in an Abilene hospital. Graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 16, at the Coleman Cemetery Pavilion with Brother Lester Swan officiating and assisted by Brother Don Northway. A visitation will be held prior to the service on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman.
She was born Dorothy Rose Dobbins on July 19, 1926 in Coleman, a daughter of Ovie Richard Dobbins and Myrtle Cullins Dobbins. She grew up in Coleman and attended school at Loss Creek and Coleman. On February 6, 1946 she married Wallace Farris in Coleman and he preceded her in death on November 16, 2005. Dorothy was homemaker but also worked at Jinright Manufacturing and was a beautician. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Bob Anthony of Abilene; one granddaughter, Sabrina Kirk and husband Rusty of Abilene; two great-grandsons, Cody Kirk and wife Paige and Drew Kirk; one great-great grandson, Casten Kirk; two brothers, Wilbert Dobbins and wife Jerry of Coleman and Donnie Dobbins and wife Kim of Killeen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, D. J. Dobbins and Bobby Wooldridge and one sister Christine Holland.
