Dorothy Freeman, 91, of Coleman, died Friday, November 21, 2014 in Aransas Pass. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Bro. Don Harmes officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
She was born October 28, 1923 in Winters, Texas to John Ivan Bennett and Ada Loraine Grimes Bennett. She moved to Coleman County with her family at the age of four. She attended school in Coleman and in 1946, married Roy Croft. He preceded her in death in 1957. She later married Raymond Edward Freeman on July 6, 1969 in Alice. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Mrs. Freeman worked for Brownwood Manufacturing and Coleman Manufacturing as a machine operator. She created ceramic art, enjoyed cooking and sewing. She also was involved with Home Demonstration Club and was a member of Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Dianna Kay Straach of Port Aransas; two sisters, Sue Myers of Coleman, Hazel Wolf, of Coleman; four grandchildren, Hilary Landers of Austin, Vanessa Harrison of Fredericksburg, Lauren Straach of Fredericksburg, Adam Croft of Chicago, IL; three great grandchildren, Grace Harrison, of Fredericksburg, Evelyn Landers and Clifton Landers, V, both of Austin and several nieces and nephews.
Besides both her husbands, she was also preceded in death by a son, David Croft; a sister, Barbara Perrie; a brother Edward Bennett and an infant grandson, Travis Croft.
