Dovie Claudine Kemp Cole

November 8, 1938 — December 3, 2016

Dovie Claudine Kemp Cole, age 78, of Stephenville and formerly of Coleman County, died Saturday, December 3, 2016, at her daughter's home in Stephenville. There will be a visitation at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman. At 9:30 there will be a procession to Glen Cove Cemetery for a 10:00 a.m. service at the pavilion, with George Malis, pastor of Washington Street Baptist Church in Stephenville, officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Dovie Claudine Kemp on November 8, 1938 in Del Rio, Texas, a daughter of Claude Kemp and Flossie Marie Netherland Kemp. She lived in many places in Texas, including Talpa and Junction, where she attended school and graduated from Junction High School. She also served several years in the U.S. Army Reserve. In 1958 she married Rayford Jared Camp and had four children with him. She later married George Eugene Cole and they had one child. He preceded her in death in 2005. Dovie was a homemaker and mother and enjoyed taking care of her kids and grandkids. She also worked at various times as a waitress, office worker and in retail. Her last career was as a performer at Scott's Theatre in Fort Worth and the Empire Club in Houston. She lived in White Settlement and Houston, moving to Stephenville in 2005. She was Pentecostal.

Survivors include five children, Marchella Siegel and husband David of Stephenville, Melody Cobb of Stephenville, Winston Grant Camp and wife Sonia of Brownwood, April Owens and husband Bill of Dixon, Kentucky, Bud Cole and wife Kristin of Houston; brothers and sisters, Myrt Wells and husband Sonny of Coleman, Glen Kemp and wife Claudia of Burkburnett, Judy Kemp of Coleman; several half-brothers and half-sisters; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; an uncle, Jeff Ward of Midland; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
