Dr. Paul Moran, 77, of Coleman, died Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Abilene Regional Medical Center.  There will be a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Stevens Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Posey officiating, assisted by Bro. Don Harmes.  Burial will be in McLean.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.

He was born Paul Austin Moran on January 13, 1941 in Lavaca, Arkansas, to Howard Austin Moran and Eda Stanke Moran.  He grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduating from high school there.  He then attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medicine.  He then attended Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, earning his doctorate degree in Osteopathics.  He served his internship in Dallas and served his surgical residency in Detroit, Michigan.  On September 12, 1970, he married Barbara Dwight in Dallas.

Dr. Moran was a Fellow of Emergency Medicine at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.  He taught Physicians Assistants for the United States Army in Wichita, Kansas.  He also taught Anatomy and Physiology at Howard College in Big Spring.  Dr. Moran was one of the first Emergency Room Doctors at Humana Hospital, now Abilene Regional Medical Center, in Abilene.  He later worked with Texas Tech University in Lubbock, tending to the medical needs of inmates thru the Texas Department of Criminal Justice throughout west Texas.  After moving to Coleman in February of 1993, Dr. Moran started his family practice.  He was also an Emergency Room Doctor and an Attending Physician at Coleman County Medical Center.

Dr. Moran was an Eagle Scout, member of the Boggy Masonic Lodge #739 in Teague, loved listening to all types of music and enjoyed reading books.  He was a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his spouse, Barbara Moran of Coleman; five children, Jennifer Henry and husband, John, of Brownwood, Joel Moran of Eastland, Jason Moran and wife, Lori, of Coleman, Jarrod Moran of Sylacauga, Alabama, Jamie Moran of Coleman; 13 grandchildren, Tara, John, Joseph, Samantha, Victoria, Alicia, Tiffany, Megan, Emily, Sarah, Heather, Jonathan and Ryder.  Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Kameron, Liam, Hadley and Lorlie.

Besides his parents, Dr. Moran was preceded in death by two children, Michelle Moran and Ronnie Nevels and a sister.
