Dr. Robert (Bob) Murchison, age 75, of Coleman, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018, in the Coleman County Medical Center.  Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018, in the First United Methodist Church, 500 W. Liveoak, Coleman, with Rev. Wayne Lewis, former pastor of First United Methodist Church, Coleman,  officiating, assisted by Rev. Paul Judd, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Coleman, and Dr. William Longsworth, retired staff member of First United Methodist Church, Fort Worth.   Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman.  There will be a reception for family and friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.  The dress for the service is country casual.

He was born Robert Julien Murchison on November 17, 1942, in Fort Worth, a son of Dr.  S. J. R. Murchison and Mildred Amelia Thomas Murchison.  Bob grew up in Fort Worth where he graduated from Paschal High School.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree from TCU and his Medical Degree from University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston,  simultaneously receiving a Masters in Anatomy.   In 1966, he married Mildred Kathryn “Bitsy” Reeg in Galveston.   He served in the United States Navy from 1970-1978 where he retired with the rank of Commander.  Dr. Bob practiced medicine in Fort Worth for over 30 years, specializing in urology.  In 1990, Dr. Bob and Bitsy purchased a ranch in Coleman County and they finally retired to the ranch in 2007, following his retirement.  He was a member of First United Methodist in Fort Worth and after moving permanently to Coleman County, he became an active member of First United Methodist in Coleman and the Men’s Downtown Sunday School class, where he was one of the teachers.  In 2011, Dr. Bob felt called to ministry, serving at Valera and Trickham United Methodist Churches for three years.  He then pastored for three years at First United Methodist Church in Winters, retiring in 2017.  He then was appointed as Associate Pastor of Gouldbusk and Trinity United Methodist Churches.

He is survived by his wife, Bitsy Murchison of Coleman; two sons, Robert J. Murchison, Jr., wife Candice, and their two daughters, Kennedy and Ainsley Murchison of Denver, Colorado;  Colin Louis Murchison, wife Hannah, and their two daughters, Grace and Emme Kate  of Weatherford.
