Edgar Lee Dossey

Edgar Lee (E.L.) Dossey, 90, of Coleman, died September 20, 2013 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service with Military Honors will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with his nephew, Leanard Roy Dossey officiating. Burial will follow in the Santa Anna Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

E.L. Dossey was born April 21, 1923 in Edna, Texas to Floyd Dossey and Minnie Mason Dossey. He grew up in the Edna, Luling and Victoria areas in south Texas. He served in the United States Navy as a Motor Machinist's Mate Third Class from 1943 to 1946. Following his honorable discharge from the United States Navy, E.L. married Freddie Beth Rowe on February 28, 1950 in Santa Anna. They lived in several towns before moving to Coleman in 1952. E.L. worked in the oil field as a driller and a tool pusher, was involved in his children's sports activities, attended the Men's Downtown Sunday School Class and enjoyed farming and watching his calves grow to maturity.

Survivors include two children, Eddie K. Dossey and wife, Sue, of Coleman, Paula S. Brown of Coleman; two grandchildren, Michael Paul Dossey of Brownwood, Josh Brown of Stephenville; three great grandchildren, Dylan and Lexi Dossey of Brownwood, Derek Brown of Coleman.

He was preceded in by his wife, Freddie Beth Dossey on February 19, 1986; four brothers, Jack Dossey, Lawson Dossey, David Dossey, Leanard Dossey, one sister, Annie Mae Kirkwood and one granddaughetr, Jessica Beth Brown.

Memorials may be made the American Cancer Society or the donor's favorite charity.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m .to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Stevens Funeral Home.
