Eva Antonio "Tony" Calk

December 14, 1909 — July 15, 2014

Eva Antonio "Tony" Calk, a resident of Los Altos, CA, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2014. She was 104 years old. Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Rev. Michael Redmond officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born in her parents' farm house in the rural community of Silver Valley, Texas on December 14, 1909. She attended high school in the nearby town of Coleman and North Texas State Teachers College in Denton. Tony married Henry Trueman Calk, son of another nearby farm family, in 1935. At the outset of World War II, Trueman accepted employment as an instructor with the U. S. Army Air Force. His civil service career with the military took them to various Texas cities, Denver, CO, Cheyenne, WY and finally Laredo, TX where he retired. They then moved to Boerne, TX where they lived for over two decades before moving to Menlo Park, CA in 1992. Tony was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Los Altos, CA.

Tony was an excellent seamstress and turned out beautiful work for family and friends. She discovered at an early age that she could play the piano by ear and her family and friends enjoyed her music for many years. She enjoyed crewel embroidery, gardening and many excursions with her husband to add to their rock collection. She also loved antiques and collected cut glass. In 2006 she wrote the story of her life in a 288 page book entitled "As I Remember", a labor of love which is treasured by all of her family.

Tony lost her husband in February, 1999 and her youngest daughter, Carolyn, in November, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Storm of Lafayette, CO, her son, Lewis, and wife, Elaine of Los Altos, CA, granddaughters, Jenna Calk (Kevin Kompolt), Tracy Calk (James Sederberg), Pamela Calk (Jorgen Blomberg), Laura Storm (Steve Beecraft), Cynthia Storm (Gregory Rouillard), and great grandchildren, Jacob and Daniel Kompolt, Ryan and Katy Rouillard, Rowan and Brynn Blomberg, and Carolyn Beecraft.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Pathways Home Health and Hospice or other charity of choice.
