Fernando (Chavacan) Martinez

Fernando (Chavacán) Martinez, Sr., age 69, of Coleman, passed from his physical being on February 24, 2018. The Rosary, led by Sammie Espitia, will be held on Tuesday, February 27, at 7:00 p.m. in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Posey officiating. Burial will follow in Burkett Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.

He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on December 9, 1948, and grew up in Coleman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Manuela Martinez, and his siblings, Richard Martinez, Hope Saenz, and Shirley Torres.

He is survived by his son, Fernando Martinez, Jr. of Baird; his sisters, Lucinda Martinez and Connie Jaurequi, both of Coleman; nieces and nephews, and other relatives.

He worked for many years with and retired from Santa Fe Railroad. He enjoyed spending time with his son and sisters, socializing with friends, and meeting people.
