Floyd M. Thomas, 96, of Bangs died Monday, December 12, 2016 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Bangs Cemetery with Mr. Michael Light officiating. Burial will be in the Bangs Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman.

He was born Floyd Martin Thomas on April 13, 1920 in Hawley, to Frank Lawrence Thomas and Deavia May Tankersley Thomas. He grew up and attended school in Coleman County and served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. On July 11, 1942, he married Susie Louise Dowell in Voss. She preceded him in death on May 26, 1997. Mr. Thomas made his home in Bangs off and on since 1951 and continuously since 1977. He retired from LTV Corporation, was a life-time member of the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans and a Baptist.

Survivors include his children, Skip Thomas and wife, Sherry, of Bangs, Jo Ann Rost of Mansfield, Connie Smith of Rendon; sister-in-law, Edna Thomas of Snyder, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Besides his parents and his wife, Louise, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.
