Freda Burton

Freda Burton, 76, of Coleman, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Mr. Sam Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Freda Joyce Morgan on October 22, 1939 in Coleman to Audie Morgan and Allene Clark Morgan. Freda grew up and attended school in Coleman. On December 28, 1958, she married Freddie Burton in Coleman. He preceded her in death on July 9, 2008. Freda worked for 17 years as a sales clerk for Earle Smith Jewelers. She also worked at Anthony's and was a member of the Elm Street Church of Christ. Her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, were very special to her.

Survivors include two sons, Fred Burton of Glen Cove, Chris Burton and wife, Linda, of Coleman; one sister, Ginger Crye of Belton; four grandchildren, Stephanie Wilson and husband, David, of Granbury, Brittany Maldonado and husband, Fausto, of Coleman, Misty Crowe and husband, Ken, of Amarillo, Dusty Cockerhoun and husband, Brian, of Colorado and eight great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and her husband, Freda is preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Kay Burton; two half-sisters, Lee Chastain, Willene Bauers and one half-brother, Mabrey Morgan.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.

Memorials in memory of Freda may sent to Hospice of the Big Country, West Texas Rehabilitation Center or the American Cancer Society.
