Freeda Kilgore, 81, of Granbury and former resident of Coleman died Sunday, February 1, 2015 in Temple.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Coleman City Cemetery with Rev. Brad Slaten officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
She was born Freeda Juanene Duncan in Coleman September 9, 1933 to Arthur (A.V.) Duncan and Mary Ann Wheeler Duncan. She grew up in Coleman and attended Coleman High School, and then went on to school where she received her beautician's license. She married Frank White of Talpa and they both worked as hairdressers with her brother and sister-in-law who owned "Margie's Beauty Salon". They eventually opened "The Beauty Hut" in the 60's which they operated for many years. She had three children who were also raised in Coleman and attended Coleman High School.
After leaving Coleman, she received her real estate license. She married Larry Kilgore of Tennessee in 1981. For several years, they owned a convenience store and restaurant in Brock, where they raised emus and hosted small rodeo events. Freeda did everything from cooking and serving breakfast to the locals to mowing the pastures on her tractor. They settled in Granbury where they enjoyed remodeling projects, fishing and traveling in their camper.
She is preceded in death by her husband Larry, daughter Teddie Kay Clark, son Greg White, two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include her son Bill White and wife Barbara of Granbury, step-son Steve Kilgore and wife, Angela of Tennessee, three grandchildren, three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in Tennessee, one sister-in-law in Coleman, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
