Gaylan Ray Bates, age 65, of Clarksville passed away Friday, November 2, 2018, at his residence. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Pastor Jody Pirtle officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Gaylan was born November 8, 1952, in Crane to Floyd Ray and Zelma Parks Bates. His father preceded him in death. Gaylan retired after 38 years of service at Rogers Ford Sales as a Mechanic. Both he and his wife gave back in many ways to their church, home and community.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda “Susie” Herring Bates of Clarksville; his son, Rodney Ray Bates and wife, Barbara of Midland; mother, Zelma Parks Bates of Lubbock, sisters, Sandra Lumpkin and husband, Jerry of Lubbock and Janet Cook of Ridgeville, South Carolina; his brother, Troy Lynn Bates of Houston; nephew, Dale Ray Lumpkin of Carrollton
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Rifle Association or Wounded Warriors Foundation.
