Geraldine “Gerrie” Curry McLaughlin, age 91, of Crockett, and former long-time resident of Weatherford and Lubbock, died Sunday, November 14, 2021, in Crockett. The family will host a visitation/reception beginning at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, at the funeral home. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2021, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Aaron Mitchell, of Concho Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman.
Geraldine Curry was born on December 25, 1929, in Wink, Texas to Fay Louis Curry and Lessie Bea Waldrep Curry. She grew up in Coleman and attended school here. She was married to Bill Cain who preceded her in death and later married Roy McLaughlin. He also preceded her in death.
Although Gerrie never had any children of her own, she was a second “Mom” to all her nieces and nephews plus their children. She loved to watch The Price is Right and the Dallas Cowboys. She enjoyed dancing and playing dominos and cards with her family. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Lubbock for many years. Although Gerrie spent the last five years in Crockett, Texas as a resident at Enchanted Pines Assisted Living and then the Houston County Nursing Home, she lived in Weatherford for 30 years and then 18 years in Lubbock. She was a member of the Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock.
Other than her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Jane Looney, Billy Joe Curry, Jana Boy Curry, Eugene Leslie Curry and nephews, Barry Curry and Kelly Curry.
Survivors include her siblings, Fay Louise Ritchey, James Andrew Curry, Daniel Greene Curry and Virginia Curry Hooks; nephews and nieces, Billy Todd Curry, Steve Curry, LeAnn Earle, Paul Ritchey, Karla Looney, Wade Looney, Sonya Curry, Kenny Curry, Terry Curry Jones, Troy Curry, Stanley Curry, Kathy Curry, Jimmy Curry, Tammy Whittenburg, Melanie Hooks and Amy Lea Cummings; great nephews and great nieces.
