Glen Scarborough, age 87, of Shields, passed from this life on Monday, August 31, 2020 at his residence. The family will host a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2020 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David McLean, pastor of First Baptist Church of Santa Anna, officiating. Interment will follow at the Santa Anna Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
Glen David Scarborough was born July 3, 1933 in Glen Cove to C.A. and Fredna Scarborough. He graduated high school from Santa Anna. He was drafted into the US Army and was stationed in El Paso and Chicago. He narrowly missed going to the Korean War.
He married Betty Jamison and they made their home on his family place in Shields. That place has been in the family for over 100 years.
Glen loved visiting with people and working with his hands. His occupations included farming and ranching, custom combining and he worked for many years building homes and woodworking at Coleman County Woodshop.
He was a fixture in the community, serving on the boards for the Santa Anna school district, Coleman County Telephone and Electric Cooperatives. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Santa Anna, where he served on the building committee for many years.
Glen is survived by his wife of over 60 years Betty Scarborough; a son Randy Scarborough of Bangs; a daughter Amy Parker and husband Hank of Lake Brownwood; two grandsons Lane and Gage Parker; one brother Charles and wife Rilda of Round Rock; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter Sherry and his parents, C.A. and Fredna Scarborough.
Pallbearers will be members of the Coleman County Electric Cooperative Board. The family asks that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Santa Anna, 201 S. Lee Street, Santa Anna, Texas 76878 or the Santa Anna Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 97, Santa Anna, Texas 76878.
