Helen (Applegate) Clare

Helen Clare, age 70, of Coleman, died Monday, June 28, 2021, at her residence.

She was born Helen Applegate on December 9, 1950, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Maynard Applegate and Minnie Mauldin Applegate.  She married Oura Clare in Lubbock, Texas.  After Oura retired, they relocated to the Oplin area and then moved to Coleman 17 years ago.  Helen enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

Preceding Helen in death are her husband, Oura Clare; two sons, David Casey and Chris Casey; and eight brothers and sisters, Francis, Linda, Edna, Katy, Gaylon, Billy Ray, Billy Jack, and Kenny.

She is survived by her children, Michael Casey of Coleman, Kenneith Casey and wife Monica of Hale Center, and Chrystal Holland and husband Billy of Coleman; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Scott of Hereford, Judy Applegate of Amarillo, and Gladys Walker of Ringling, Oklahoma; and three brothers, Maynard Applegate of Pampa, Chris Applegate of Levelland, and Rudy Applegate of Littlefield.

Per Helen’s request, no services will be held.  Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
