Helen Wright, age 91, of Coleman, died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel Stovall officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
She was born Helen Stiehl on November 3, 1921 in Dillard, Oklahoma, the daughter of John Christian Stiehl and Hattie Jane McGill Stiehl. Helen moved with her family to Coleman in 1929. She attended school at South Ward and graduated from Coleman High School in 1939. On November 11, 1942 she married M. V. "Buddy" Ray and he preceded her in death in 1965. In June 1979 she married Curly Wright in Coleman and he died in 2007.
Helen worked at the Coleman Courthouse for 14 years in the County Clerk's office and then went to work for KSTA radio for 16 years, retiring in 1986. She worked part-time at the Chamber of Commerce. She was a life-time member of the ladies auxiliary of Disabled American Veterans and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of Concho Baptist Church.
She is survived by one granddaughter, Judy Parker of Coleman; four nieces and nephews; seven great-nieces and great-nephews, six great-great nieces and great-great nephews and her extended family - The Jurl Essary Family.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and two brothers, Richard Eugene Stiehl and John Daniel (J. D.) Stiehl.
Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.
