Jesse A. Tomme

Jesse A. Tomme, 87, of Bangs, died Monday, March 20, 2017 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Pastor Robby Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Jesse A. Tomme was born January 12, 1930 in Cleburne, Texas to Samuel Lewis Tomme and Ruby Mae Wilson Tomme. He grew up and attended school in Old Dime Box in Lee County. Jesse enlisted in the United States Navy in 1951 and served on the USS Sheldrake. He was honorably discharged in 1955. On August 10, 1957, he married Angie Willene French in Brownwood at the home of Rev. Smith.

Jesse worked as a pipe liner, greaser and mechanic while building oil pipelines. Jesse and Willene moved to Bangs in 1973. He loved doing carpentry work and was willing to help anyone in need. If you wanted something done, Jesse would do it. Jesse was baptized at the Elm Street Church of Christ in Coleman.

Survivors include his wife, Willene Tomme of Bangs; one son, Troy Maurice Tomme and wife, Brenda, of Bangs; one sister, Bernice Seal of Buffalo Gap; two grandsons, Jeremy Tomme and wife, Jessica, of Blanket, Tristan Tomme and wife, Brandi, of Bangs, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews.

Besides his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Keith Tomme, four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home.
