Jim "Butter Bean" Carpenter, 78, of Glen Cove died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 in Callahan County. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Glen Cove Baptist Church with Rev. Alec Rivera officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Cove Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Known as Jim, to his family and friends, he was born to Pat A. and Bobbie Florene Carpenter in Dallas, TX where he grew up and lived most of his life. He was a Boy Scout and graduated from W. H. Adamson High School in Dallas. A lifelong Carpenter by occupation as well as name, he did custom work and finish work for many years before failing physical health took that away. A long time member of the Church of Christ, he moved to Coleman, where he resided for a number of years enjoying the ranch life he so loved. His love of horses went with him most of his life as a rodeo enthusiast to raising miniature horses.
Survivors include his long-time companion, Joyce Davis of Glen Cove; one daughter, Sherri Lou Hart of Garland; one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy James and Dana Carpenter of Rowlett; three grandchildren, Ashleigh Nicole Hart of Garland, Rachel Elise Carpenter and Bryan Wayne Carpenter of Rowlett, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat A. and Gwen Carpenter, Jr. of Dallas, Jerry Wayne and Ann Carpenter of Greenville; three nephews, Michael L. Carpenter, Ronald G. Carpenter, David W. Carpenter; a niece Janis K. Vaughn and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a Niece Debra Carpenter Orzechowski.
