Jim C. Watson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024, in Abilene, Texas. He was born on April 10, 1950, in Brownwood, Texas, where he spent his early years and received his education in the local schools of Brownwood and Early.

Jim dedicated many years of his life to the oil field before embarking on a rewarding career with the Coleman Independent School District. Through hard work and dedication, he rose to become the head of the maintenance department, a role he held until his retirement in 2015. His commitment to serving the school community left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him.

Characterized by his outgoing nature and loving personality, Jim cherished his family and friends deeply. He entered into a beautiful union with Raylene Carnes on November 1, 1980, in Coleman, Texas, a partnership filled with love and companionship. Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Raylene Watson, and their children, Jimmy Ray Watson and wife Christi of Coleman, Seleste Bond and husband Kevin of Houston, and Melissa Walkoviak and husband Danny of Comanche.

Jim was the proud brother of four sisters: Karen Vanpelt of Coleman, Pam Searcy of Sweetwater, Brenda Benson and husband Gary of Brownwood, and Gina Bruner and husband Mark of Sweetwater. In addition to his immediate family, Jim leaves behind a legacy of love that includes many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who adored him and will miss him tremendously.

Jim was passionate about enjoying life to the fullest, finding joy in activities such as fishing, camping, cooking out, and spending cherished moments with his family. His vibrant spirit and zest for life will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lewis Watson and Wilma Irene Dobbins Watson; his son, William Watson; his brother, Randy Watson; one grandson, Stephon Don Kessinger; and one great-granddaughter, Paizlee Cisneroz.

As we reflect on Jim C. Watson's life, we celebrate the memories he created and the love he shared with those around him. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
