Kelvin Derwood Crowder

February 6, 1956 — July 28, 2017

Kelvin Derwood Crowder, age 61, of Coleman, died Friday, July 28, 2017, at his residence. Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas. Inurnment will be in the Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Derwood Crowder was born February 16, 1956 in Ipswich, England, the son of Gerald Crowder and Joyce Beales Crowder. He was born in England while his father was stationed there in the military and he came to the United States as an infant, with his family. He grew up in Coleman where he also attended school. Derwood served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He was a bricklayer.

Survivors include his sister, Glynda Carrillo of Coleman; a nephew and two nieces, Dustin Watson, Brittany Sikes and husband Bill and Skyla Black and husband Joey; eleven great-nieces and great-nephews; aunts and uncles; his special beloved friends, Aaron and Ruth Burkey, and last, but not least, his loving dog, Abby. Derwood was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Crowder and Joyce Turner; grandparents, Claude and Emma Beales and Jodie and Leda Crowder. The family suggests memorial gifts may be made to any veterans organization or to Pit Bulls & Parolees, c/o Villalobos Rescue Center, P. O. Box 771127, New Orleans, LA 70177.
