Larry Laws, age 68, of Coleman, died Monday, September 6, 2021, at Coleman County Medical Center.
The family will host a visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Stevens Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Joseph Haynes, pastor at Leaday Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
He was born Clinton Larry Laws on May 21, 1953, in Coleman to Clinton Eugene Laws and Orphey Faries Laws. He grew up in Coleman where he attended school. Larry proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After receiving an honorable discharge, Larry became an electrician. He was a licensed journeyman electrician and worked for the U.S. Contractors from 1990 to 2003. Larry also worked for Weldon Wilson Electric, Inc. in Brownwood for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and sport shooting. Larry also loved to repair and fix things. He was an electrician by trade but could perform any task that needed to be done. Larry was a wonderful son, loving father, and adored his grandchildren. He will be missed.
Larry is preceded in death by his father, Clinton Eugene Laws.
He is survived by his mother, Orphey Laws of Coleman; his daughter, Melody Butts and husband Jerry of Coleman; his two sons, C. David Laws and wife Bethany of Southwest, Missouri, and Jessie Laws of Coleman; his grandchildren, Megan DeBerry, Paige Butts, Olivia Butts, Cooper Laws, Alaina Laws, and one on the way; and one great-grandchild, Rayland Eugene DeWitt Doyle and one on the way; and two sisters, Vikki Wristen and husband Lin of Early, and Nikki Guzy of Coleman.
