LaRue J. Russell

LaRue J. Russell, 71, of Coleman, died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born LaRue J. Edwards on January 27, 1943 in Matador, Texas, to Claud Garland Edwards and Florence Etta Hawley Edwards. She married Claude Russell and the celebrated 45 years of marriage. LaRue and Claude moved to Coleman 1979. She worked at a cook at Coleman County Medical Center and in the cafeteria at Coleman I.S.D. She was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Claude Russell of Coleman; two daughters, Bettrell Lee Mink and husband, Jeff, of Smyer, Donna KayE Whitehead of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, two sons, Michael Lynn Whitehead and wife, Robin, of Levelland, Chad Russell and wife, Stef, of Brownwood; two sisters, Darlene Hagle and husband, Leon, of Throckmorton, Claudine Coon of Slaton; one brother, Jesse Hiram Edwards of Lubbock; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and oodles of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Claude Garland Edwards, Jr. and one sister, Dessa Mae Wallace.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2014 at the funeral home.
