LaVeta Duncan Curry, of Dallas and former resident of Coleman, died Thursday, July 10, 2014 at her residence. Graveside funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Brad Slaten officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born LaVeta Margaret Duncan in Glen Cove, Coleman County, Texas to Arthur (A.V.) Duncan and Mary Ann Wheeler Duncan. She grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School. She married Odis James Curry. She worked at Overall-Morris Memorial Hospital and was an artist, seamstress and quilt-maker. Mrs. Curry had lived in Dallas for the over 40 years and was a member of the Christian Science Church.

Survivors include two sons, Sam Curry and wife, Joyce, of Mineola, Tom Curry and wife, Susan, of Alpine; one daughter, Susanne Jones of Richardson; one sister, Freeda Kilgore of Granbury; two sisters-in-law, Margie Duncan of Coleman, Lolette Curry Rowe of Coleman; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; one great, great grandchild and her companion of 22 years, Bernard Hale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Odis James Curry in 1966; two brothers; one sister and one-step granddaughter.

Family visitation will be Monday, July 14, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.
